Oksana Krasnikova

“I had an extended family, and now it’s just me, my son, and my sister. How can one forgive? The war took everything and everyone away from me”

The war treated Oksana very cruelly. Her nephew was killed in the ATO before the full-scale invasion; her mother and father died; and she herself and her young son were captured by the DPR militants. Her husband and another nephew died during the war.

“I had an extended family, and now it’s just me, my son, and my sister. How can one forgive? The war took everything and everyone away from me.”

Oksana has nowhere to go because all her homes in Bakhmut have been destroyed. But she believes in victory and dreams of walking across Red Square with the Ukrainian flag.
