Artist Lesia Bablyak did not believe until the last that there would be a war. On 24 February 2022, she gradually came to the realization of a new reality. First, the whole family decided to gather in a house in Buzova near Kyiv. However, a week later, they realized that it was dangerous to stay. So they left for Lviv.
There, in order to escape from the war trauma, Lesia Bablyak began to create her “Yellow and Blue Album” – a series of paintings that convey the artist’s subtle perception of the most painful pages of the war. Bucha and Irpin, Vinnytsia, Kramatorsk, and many other Ukrainian cities where civilians were killed.
When Lesia Bablyak was on the way to the opening of the exhibition of her paintings in Lviv, her neighbours informed her that her house in Buzova came under fire.
