“I experienced every explosion with such fear because I realised that people were dying somewhere at that time”

Anastasiia was only 16 years old when the enemy entered Borodianka and began to destroy the village. The family was hidden in the basement, even taking their dogs and cats downstairs. Tanks could be heard nearby, explosions were heard. But the enemy did not enter the yard.

The family managed to leave Borodianka for Mykolaivka, Zhytomyr region. But even there, it was not peaceful. Anastasiia recalls how they stopped in Western Ukraine. How hospitably they were received and helped. And how painful it was to return to the mutilated Borodianka.
