Svitlana was working as a volunteer at the Point of Invincibility in Orikhiv, where she was injured under the rubble as a result of artillery shelling of the city. In hospital, she was diagnosed with mine-blast trauma, concussion, multiple soft tissue injuries of the head, and haematomas. She underwent a rehabilitation course at a health resort under the Wounded People programme of Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
