Together with his two sons and wife, Dmytro lived in a high-rise building in the center of Mariupol.

"We lived on the 7th floor. When the aviation flew, it was very scary. Jets are the scariest thing. We cooked at the entrance in order to have time to jump into the shelter. We had lard. The neighbors had potatoes. We united and survived. We spent the night in the hallway, in front of the apartment. On March 11, our building was hit. A neighbor died. And a few days later, our standpipe caught fire. Neighbors from the 8th floor died. Grandfather and granddaughter jumped out the window and fell to their deaths. And his daughter was burned alive," said Dmytro, a resident of Mariupol.
