“Everything was on fire! On the ninth floor, the woman’s hands failed. She fell off down before our eyes”

The multi-flat building was engulfed in flames! Natalia saw a woman on the 9th floor. Behind her, flames were raging. The woman shouted that the door was jammed because of the blast wave! There was no escape. She tried to climb to the next floor... and fell down. Natalia herself nearly died during a mortar attack while carrying food to her father. Natalia took her mother to the basement of her house, but her father refused to leave the flat! So for several weeks, she was torn between her two parents. Natalia’s house burned to the ground. Hell yes! Sixteen shell hits! Those who survived in Mariupol, Natalia says, are survivors just by chance.
