The Museum of the Sixties (a branch of the Kyiv Сity History Museum) was created on the initiative of a public organisation. The Museum's collection is based on private collections of Ukrainian sixties dissidents. Olena Lodzynska, the museum's director, talks about the challenges the staff faced during the war, including difficulties with the evacuation of exhibits. The museum's collection is rich: tens of thousands of documents, photos, archives, a collection of samizdat, and artworks. For example, the works of the famous Ukrainian designer and artist Liubov Panchenko. She donated her works to the Museum of the Sixties 20 days before the large-scale invasion. She survived the occupation and died in April 2022.
Researcher Olena Lodzynska describes the dedication of the museum staff who worked on packing the exhibits despite the stress and uncertainty. The vast majority of the collections are hostile to the aggressor, so the prompt evacuation of the collection at the beginning of the invasion was critical. Since the full-scale war, the interest of visitors to the Museum of the Sixties has increased several times. And Olena explains why.
