Haiane Avakian is a co-founder of the Memorial memory platform. After the liberation of the territories in the east of the country, she went there on a journalistic mission, collecting stories of survivors and preserving the memory of those who died. What she saw came as a shock. She was talking to people who had lived in hell for months. The journalist herself is from Bakhmut. She left her hometown in the first days of the invasion, and has been without a home for three and a half years.
