Nastia and her younger sister found themselves under occupation in the Kherson region. The girls lived with their grandmother at that time. Nastia recalls she was trying to avoid meeting the occupiers in every possible way. How she couldn't hold back tears of despair when she learned that the Russian military had seized her school. They stayed in the occupation for about a year, although in Nastia's memories, it was much less. They avoided crowded places. Consider them hostages in their own home. In September 2023, the sisters finally left the occupied territory and met with their father. Nastia told her story during her rehabilitation under the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation's project called "Peaceful Recreation for Children of Ukraine".
