On the first day of the full-scale war, Olena Danylenko gathered relatives from all over the city in her house. 12 people, a cat and 3 dogs lived in the basement for almost a month. But even the thick walls of their shelter shuddered from the explosions.
Olena's son was the first to go, and at the beginning of March, under the heaviest shelling, he had a daughter. And in April, the Danylenko family decided to take their younger daughters away.
In May, it was certain that the troops had been pushed back from the city, Kharkiv held out. Then Olena's family returned home. But a week later, everything happened again - shelling day and night, life in fear... Then the Danylenko family decided to take the children to a safe place again.
They told their story during a vacation as part of the program «Rinat Akhmetov to Children! Peaceful Recreation for Children of Ukraine.»
