"I managed to hide my son in the bathroom when an explosion happened"

I woke up at 05:30 a.m. It was still early. I intended to sleep a while, but some strange state of anxiety haunted my mind. As usual, I went to the kitchen to put the kettle on [boil some water]. I understood something was wrong, because I felt some strange impulsions. I ran to wake the child straight away.

The first things I felt were  helplessness and wild fear. I started packing up. The child heard a strange sound. I screamed, quickly took my son by the hand and pushed him into the bathtub. Then there was a big explosion – a bomb fell right by my window! The windows in Son's bedroom shattered to pieces.

Taking my passport and the child's birth certificate, I quickly ran to the end of the village to my mother's, hoping that I would feel safe there and that all this was just my bad dream.
