At the age of four, my granddaughter Nadia started gaining weight drastically. We both have thyroid disease. We checked the granddaughter. It turned out that Nadia inherited a rare genetic disease from her mother. My daughter Svitlana is disabled. Her height barely reaches one and a half meters. Nadia's situation is even worse.
This year, we went for a check-up, and the tests showed that the growth hormone stopped being released at all. Treatment had to be provided immediately. Otherwise, the child would stop growing at all. It was crucial to inject the hormone until the growth zones would close. "Due to the military situation, we have a very difficult situation with medicines here. We can't find the medicine we need in Makiivka. We don't have money to buy, and we need tens of thousands UAH.
We applied to the Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center and received the necessary medications for three months. Nadia grew taller by three centimetres — up to 123 cm — for the last six months. Doctors' prognoses are quite encouraging. If the treatment is continued, Nadia can grow up to 150 cm.
