Iryna has been under occupation since the first days of the full-scale invasion. She was repeatedly searched. She refused to send her children to school under the new regime, and was threatened with deprivation of parental rights. They were travelling to Kharkiv region and almost stayed at the checkpoint. Their 5-year-old son said that their dad was a soldier. But the driver managed to convince the soldiers that his father was actually an ordinary village worker. Then there was shelling and crossing a rickety bridge over the river. But in the end, Iryna and her son managed to get to the territory under the Ukrainian flag and meet her husband in Kyiv.
