Andrii is originally from russia, but Kyiv has been his home for many years. He fell in love with this city, the Ukrainian language and the people who were never indifferent. On February 24, 2022, he, like millions of Ukrainians, faced a cruel reality. He was offered to go to a dacha in Makariv. It seemed that it would be more dangerous in the capital and quieter there. But Makariv turned out not to be a safe haven at all. A few days later, russian troops entered the town. Shelling began, and then the connection was lost. He returned to Kyiv a changed man – but even more convinced: this is his home. His war. His Ukraine. He started volunteering.
