‘My dad died tragically’

The war began for us in June 2014, when our village got first exposed to heavy shelling. We felt really scared when the shells were flying over our house and landing on other people’s houses, when peaceful residents of our village were dying.

Once, when my dad went to Avdiivka where he worked at the time, a mortar attack started. Having completed his work in Avdiivka, he had to go to another village and fix something there too.

And when he came up to the bus stop, a shell landed right next to my dad. My dad died… That’s how tragically my dad died. That’s the sad story.
