It was hard for Daddy to let us go, but he knew it was necessary

“It was hard for Daddy to let us go, but he knew it was necessary. He didn’t have time to help us get on the train because he had to go to another place on business. We said goodbye. Daddy told me to take care of the family. That was it,” - Kateryna recollects her last meeting with her father.

This meeting took place on March 8, at the Kramatorsk train station. A month later, this was the place where a 49-year-old man died from the enemy’s rocket, Tochka-U. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian army, he had been working at the Department of Civil Defense, Mobilization, and Defence Work at the Donetsk State Regional Administration. Oleh had accompanied people to the evacuation trains, which then headed far away from the war.

The man died in one of Kramatorsk hospitals due to a considerable loss of blood. He is survived by his elderly parents, a sick wife, a little son, and a 25-year-old daughter.

We will cherish the memory of him!
