Lyudmyla Kyrylenko saw a scene of apocalypse: houses were burning, smoke seemed to have swept the air, and chaos and fear reigned. Later, the librarian from Borodianka would often recall this picture in her stories. In the first days of March 2022, the villagers survived four air raids. The russian military dropped bombs on seven high-rise buildings on the main street.

On 1 March, when Liudmyla and her husband were hiding in the basement, a rocket hit the high-rise building and pierced a part of the shelter where people were staying. Only thanks to the timely decision of one of their neighbours, who opened a second exit, did the residents manage to escape. Unfortunately, not all of them did. It was only in April that they were able to excavate the cellars with the dead. After the Kyiv region was de-occupied.
