During the full-scale invasion, Karolina lived in Mariupol and was 8 months pregnant. Her contractions began on 9 March. That's when the russian soldiers dropped a bomb on the maternity hospital on Myru Avenue. Fortunately, the woman was still at home.
"My husband and I were taken by ambulance to Hospital No. 2. An obstetrician-surgeon met us there. He said we should wait for contractions, but there were none. Two days later, on 11 March, I gave birth thanks to an intern. It was a difficult labour. It was a daughter. Hell broke loose - I couldn't get breast milk. They stopped feeding us, only soup. Everything else was eaten by the Russian military who entered the hospital," Karolina, a resident of Mariupol, says.
