Iryna Navalna and her mother left their native Mariupol in May 2022. The girl’s grandmother could not get out of the occupied city; given her advanced age, it would be impossible for her to cope with an arduous journey. In August, Irina dared to visit her grandmother. Iryna Navalna was arrested in occupied Mariupol on September 27, 2022. The girl was accused of preparing a terrorist attack. Her mother says that she has been kept in jail for more than six months.
