Milana Iovchenko

“When we stayed in the basement, we heard our neighbors being killed”

Milana Iovchenko and her husband were in her hometown, Mariupol, when the war began. The woman recalls the utter hell they had to go through. They remained in their apartment while it was still possible, but when the first powerful explosions erupted, they moved into the basement. She saw Russian snipers mercilessly killing her neighbors. That’s why Milana and her husband decided to flee. But they had to endure a lot on their way to safety.
