Vladyslav spent almost two years under occupation. The Russians captured his native village on the first day of the invasion. When the total Russification began, there were big problems with education. Vlad managed to avoid studying at a Russian school for almost a year, but then he was forced to go there. The worst thing about the occupation, Vlad recalls, is the disempowerment in thoughts and actions. And the long separation from his mother.
