On May 2, 2024, russian troops carried out airstrikes on Derhachi, Kharkiv Region. Nine people were injured, including children from 8 to 15 years old. Yuliia's daughter was among the victims. That day, Nastia went from Slatyne to nearby Derhachi for karate training. One of the KABs hit near a sports facility where children were training. The fragment pierced the daughter's arm almost all the way through, Yuliia recalls. Eleven-year-old Nastia underwent an operation, and little by little, the movement of the limb was restored.
The interview with Nastia and her mother was recorded during rehabilitation in a Zakarpattia sanatorium, where the family went under the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation program.
