Kyrylo and his older brother were taken by the Russian military from Izium to Russia. At the time, there were battles for the city, and their parents were forced to send their sons as far away from the front as possible.

Fifty children were then taken to the Krasnodar Territory. They promised that it would be for a couple of weeks. But the Russians were in no hurry to return the children. Later, the parents realised that the children would be kept in the camp for a long time. In addition, while Kyrylo and his brother were in Russia, Izium was liberated by the Ukrainian army. The family turned to the organisation “SOS Children's Villages” for help.

Kyrylo told his story of returning during the rest at the Blogger Camp. It was organised by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation in cooperation with the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights.
