“After the de-occupation, we found some mine-strewn children’s playgrounds and some grenades inside toys”

Destroyed buildings, mine-strewn children’s playgrounds, some dead bodies that the russians literally ran over with tanks – these are some of the most painful memories of the mayor of Irpin about the town immediately after its de-occupation. Oleksandr Markushyn told the Museum of Civilian Voices about how Irpin was defended in February and March 2022, and how almost all civilians were evacuated from there.
