"Pensioners are dying because of these shocks"

People in Chermalyk not only die by shelling. During two months nine pensioners died because of these shocks.

I live on the banks of the Kalmius river. It's dangerous, because on the other side there is uncontrolled territory. It is impossible to get used to fighting. I've been running the farm for more than 30 years. We had three thousand heads of dairy cattle. Now there aren’t any cows.

The pension we receive is not enough. It is all spent on medicines, gas and electricity. In the summer, we survive thanks to our gardens, and while waiting for harvest, we try to survive by fishing. But we are forbidden to go to the reservoir – nobody will be responsible for the accidental killing. My neighbor got there by accident, because of the wind… He was wounded in the leg and in the arm.
