"Dad was shot in the leg, he had a fragment of shrapnel left there. My chest was wounded"

My family and I came under fire. We lived in a house that is only a few blocks from the firing line. A shell hit our yard. It fell five meters away from my parents and me. Dad was shot in the leg, he had a fragment of shrapnel left there. My chest was wounded by it. A burn and contusion are a reminder. And I couln't see or hear anything for a few minutes.

My uncle and godfather was killed during the shelling right in the courtyard of our house. After that, I suffered from constant headaches. Having undergone rehabilitation in a sanatorium, I got better.
