A car with three families from Chernihiv was fired at by Russian troops during the evacuation of civilians on March 9, 2022. There were seven civilians in the car! Only Olesia and her little daughter Veronika survived! When the first shell hit the car, Olesia’s husband, Serhii, continued to move! The second shell hit the hood.
The car was lifted up in the air, thrown on the side of the road. Lesia flew out of the cabin and immediately became blind from injuries and burns. She heard her daughter crying. She found the child, grabbed her by the hand, and groped towards the road, towards the rumble of cars. They were picked up and taken to the hospital.
For several weeks, Lesia was looking for her husband, relatives, and friends. She hoped until the end that they survived.
