Khrystyna is an artist for whom drawing gives her the strength to keep moving forward. At the beginning of the invasion, she left for a village in the Kyiv region that ended up close to the front line. For an entire week, there was no electricity and no communication. This complete information isolation was a terrifying ordeal. After returning to Kyiv, for some time she was unable to paint. Only in June did she return to the easel.
The brightest event for the young woman was the return from captivity of someone she knew, who had been missing for more than three years. It happened right after a horrific shelling of the city and helped distract her from terrifying thoughts.
