"The sky seemed to explode"

My name is Yulia, I am 14 years old. I live in Donetsk. Our family has never moved anywhere since the beginning of the war. We lived through  all the events here.

2014. In early June, my sister and I went on a business trip to my father and stayed there for the entire summer, although we planned to stay for two weeks. When we arrived back home in September, we were terrified! The sky was literally exploding!

I was very afraid for my family. It's scary to go somewhere far from home. These military activities continued for three years for sure.

People were dying every day, and I was afraid that the people I loved would become them.

In 2016, our school was quarantined during almost all winter. We all stayed at home most of the time. My dad and my sister and I still went to training. I am do  karate, and our coach always encouraged us and is now doing it.

In 2017, it became quieter. Then I was able to feel a little relief, the tension began to subside.

In 2018, that is now, it seems quiet in Donetsk.

What are my plans for 2019?

I also plan to continue doing sports. I want to pull myself up in my studies, because it's my senior year. I also want to go swimming or dancing. To do even more. These are all my plans for the next year.

I still hope this will end.
