Natalia Lokusova is a talented philologist, translator from French, associate professor of German philology. She died in Mariupol, waiting in line for water.
Natalia was killed while standing in line to get water in the besieged Mariupol. She dedicated her life to the study of the French language. While working as a senior lecturer at the German Philology Chair of the Mariupol State University, she always found time to communicate with like-minded people and promote the language among pupils.
“She had an encyclopedic knowledge and knew an enormous amount of terribly interesting stories. Her French was impeccable. No visit of a French delegation could do without her interpreting for them,” - Yulia Kazhan, her friend, recollects.
Natalia accompanied Emmanuel Macron’s advisor in Shyrokino. She interpreted during the visit of Jean Roche, the president of the engineering company BETEN International, to Mariupol, but always remained a people’s person, open-hearted, honest, and fair.
