Serhii was under occupation in Kherson. The russian army occupied the city in the first days of war and effectively cut it off from the rest of the country. Despite this, Kherson became a center of resistance and protests against the occupation authorities. Serhii is currently recovering from the occupation and describes his experience as "four walls." His mother did not allow him to go outside during the first few months. Their summer house was first burnt to the ground, and after the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant dam, the house ended up underwater. Serhiy's family gathered their most valuable belongings and sailed to the right bank of already de-occupied Kherson by motorboat.
