Historian Tetiana Savchenko is a curator of collections of jewelry monuments of the 15th and 21st centuries. She has been working in the museum for 17 years, in the branch "Treasury of the National Museum of history of Ukraine".
Tetiana met the beginning of the invasion at home in Irpen. On the same day, together with her 10-year-old son, she went to Kyiv to work, to the museum. Tetiana and her colleagues collected and packed exhibits that were located in nine halls. After that, the family returned home, but Russian troops had already entered Irpen. Tetiana recalls several unsuccessful evacuation attempts. Subsequently, she and her son had to walk to the already destroyed bridge. They waded through the river there.
After the de-occupation of the region, Tetiana returned to work in the museum. The Treasury has teamed up with other museums to resume exhibition activities.
Tetiana emphasizes that their mission is to preserve the collection for the next generations, despite the war.
