Until March 16, Valentyna, a resident of Mariupol, lived in the corridor with her two children and grandmother. Shells flew into their house several times.
On March 16, the grandmother's heart failed. They could not bury their close person. The ground was frozen. So, the body was taken to the corner of the house; a note with the name and surname of the deceased was placed.
And when they came under fire at the checkpoint, Valentyna told the children: "If something happens to me, don't wait for me, keep going." The children were crying.
