Infectious disease specialist Yevheniia Menzhulina talks about her work on the border of Bucha and Irpin during the full-scale invasion. She recalls the horrific days of evacuating civilians from the occupied territories, when medics were saving people amidst explosions and mortar attacks, risking their own lives.
The stories of people in a state of shock, who tried to save their belongings without realising the real danger, and the relatives of the victims, who hoped to find their loved ones under the rubble of destroyed houses, were particularly vulnerable.
Yevheniia also shares her professional observations on the impact of stress on the human immune system and her own experience of deteriorating health after February 24, 2022.
