A misfortune happened to my husband more than thirty years ago. Doctors fixed him up somehow. He had 17 operations. He limped but could walk.
And two and a half years ago, a blood clot formed in his leg and his leg began to turn black. Then war broke out here. He had a surgery. Doctors had to cut off one leg above the knee and then the other one too. Now he does not have legs. Plus, he suffers from diabetes. I give him medication every day and take care of him.
There's a checkpoint here. They shoot very often. Just the day before yesterday, early in the morning, at four or five o'clock, there was such a heavy bombardment... It's been a long time since there's been this much shooting here. We are no longer hiding anywhere, we got used to it. I don't even have a basement to hide in.
We have fear and such helplessness. We just wonder when this terror will end?
It is very hard to survive. I'm a seamstress by profession. If someone brings me something to patch up, I leave the money to buy bread. We are retired. We live only on pension payments.
Children are not around to help. The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation helps. We are so grateful to it! We get flour, butter. Well, basic food products. We are forever grateful for not forgetting and helping the population.Â
I wish that my husband was healthy. His legs won't grow back. I just wish that he would not suffer so much. I wish we had peace and we could see our children. They won't be able to come, and I can't. My grandchildren are growing up, and I can't even see them. I haven't seen my children in five years.
