Yulia did not walk, but rather crawled back home, while shells were flying and exploding overhead. She was returning from her mother-in-law. Her sick parents and two daughters were waiting for her at home. Her elder daughter was 12 years old, and her younger one was two. There was nothing to feed the baby with, as the baby formula had been finished long ago. Sometimes, Yulia crossed the river and exchanged kerosene for cow’s milk. A month passed like that.

Once, Yulia counted 16 airstrikes per one night! This was the last straw. It was difficult to get out of Mariupol. Due to the dehydration and illnesses, the family spent several weeks in the hospital. The Savchuk family found a temporary shelter in Cherkasy. Yulia conducts classes for children at the local centre for IDPs.
