“I was scared for my grandparents, dad, for friends”

My story is short and not very interesting, but for me it is very important. It was summer of 2014. We heard rumours about the beginning of the war. I was six at that time.

My mother and I were going on vacation to the seaside. I thought it would be a vacation. I was so happy and joyful, going by bus. I pretended to be asleep. Mum thought that I was deeply asleep and called her grandmother. Having heard their conversation, I almost burst into tears.

“We were fired at, and tanks drove through twice,” my grandmother said. I felt scared, scared for my grandparents, scared for my dad, who would soon be back, and I scared for my friends.

When we arrived, I admitted to having heard the conversation. Mum and I talked about this situation. It has been a long time, but I remember this story, I remember and will remember.
