“We were constantly under attacks. We very quickly learned what cyber war was”

Provision of not only Ukraine but the whole world with verified, prompt, truthful information. 5 million readers on peak days, despite some chaos, cyberattacks, journalists who found themselves occupied. Maryna Synhaivska, Deputy General Director of the national Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform, told us how that was possible.

This is a story about day and night shifts, about a strike on a neighboring house. About journalists who withstood the crazy marathon of the first weeks of the war. How information was found and verified. How they resisted fakes and helped by providing information to the Ministry of Defense. How the enemy announced the destruction of the “Nazi site,” and five minutes later, they were again available to readers.
