Kateryna Nekrasova

“We heard a woman, whose son was killed, wailing. His body was lying on a bench, and the tape was used as bandages”

Kateryna Nekrasova comes from Uhledar, a town that was destroyed by the Russians. The war caught the girl in Mariupol. The Russians were destroying the city in front of her. They shelled it and rained bombs on it. And once a cluster bomb fell in the yard where she and her neighbors were cooking food over a fire. It was a miracle that Katia survived. But the evacuation was the greatest ordeal that she had to survive. She ran away from the occupiers in the trunk of a car, with icons in her hands. This is a first-hand account of what it was like.
