Ivan Kovalchuk

"They could not have intimidated me in any way"

Ivan Kovalchuk is a liquidator of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident. He was in charge of a fire department and sacrificed much of his health while performing his duties there. In his seventh decade, he had to face yet another exceptional challenge. Russian tanks and dugouts surrounded his house. He says he was unafraid of shelling, hunger, or the invaders' army.
