The battle for Izium began from the first days of the full-scale invasion. The invaders shelled the city with aircraft and artillery and destroyed almost all infrastructure and residential buildings. They dropped bombs on high-rise buildings where people were hiding and used cluster munitions. After one such shelling, Maryna Boyko heard screams from the house opposite and ran there with her neighbours. At the scene, they saw a horrific picture: people were lying there, wounded by shrapnel, one man was headless. She still can't remember it without crying.
