On March 5, Mykhailo Vereskun, a lecturer at Pryazovskyi State Technical University, tried to leave Mariupol with his family. However, the car came under fire. 

March 8-9. Shells hit the yard of the technical university. There was a bomb shelter there. It was overcrowded. The dead were lying in the yard. 

“Many of my friends were killed. Hanna Levytska, her husband, and parents. A shell hit a two-story house. Two children were orphaned. Eleonora Boiko. She was on her way to fetch water. Vlad Yelishev and his wife. They were killed when they were also going to get water. Their three kids were left orphans,” says Mykhailo Vereskun, a resident of Mariupol.
