Liudmyla has been the artistic director of the Vasylkiv House of Culture for 50 years. On February 24, 2022, a dress rehearsal for a big concert dedicated to Women’s Day was scheduled. But the holiday did not happen. Instead, the House of Culture turned into a humanitarian centre for the townspeople: a shelter was set up in the basement and a first aid station was set up on the stage. People brought humanitarian aid and food from everywhere.

From the very first days, Lyudmila never left the place where she spent her entire life – she carefully wrapped museum exhibits in newspapers and cleaned the floors: it’s a cultural institution, it has to be clean! March 8 was a memorable day, as the house of culture was filled with flowers that volunteers and the military gave to all the women. Liudmyla remembered those tulips for the rest of her life, they became a symbol that life goes on. And the hope that Ukraine will win.
