Yanina Bondar

"When I take off my hearing aid, I get scared: what if a rocket comes?"

Yanina has been speaking and hearing since childhood thanks to a cochlear implant. In the first days of the invasion, she was afraid to spend the night at home. The family's apartment is located in a multi-storey building in Kyiv, on the top floors. And the sounds of explosions were felt more acutely there.

Yanina's biggest fear is being under fire without her hearing aid. She says it is when she takes it off that she feels as if she has no protection. Yoga helps Yanina get rid of her anxiety. She has been practising for a couple of years now.

The girl told her story during a holiday that has been organised by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for children affected by war that has been going on for many years.
