Askold and his family lived in Mariupol until March 11, 2022, in their apartment on Zelinskoho Street, near the highway from which the enemy started to attack. The family moved to the shelter only when two shells hit the first floor. Their neighbors were killed. Then there were three days of survival in the shelter and the organization of the evacuation of Mariupol residents.Â
"We left on March 14. The evacuation started with us. We evacuated 100 people at once. We went 7 times. Then we were not allowed to. We evacuated more than 8 thousand residents of Mariupol in total. I never knew that a soul could not stand it. I saw people going crazy. An old lady was walking, singing songs. I saw people dying. How they were torn in half", - Askold, a resident of Mariupol, said.
