«If a shell fragment had flow in here, I would not be here now»

… Something lit up and then the sound “poo-poo-poo-poo-poo” followed. The windows were blown out and the glass was broken. I just didn’t understand what it was.

If a shell fragment had flow in here, I would not be here now

I was standing near the wardrobe and watching, trying to understand what it was. It could have been worse in fact. If a shell fragment had flown in here, I would not be here now.

If a shell fragment had flow in here, I would not be here now

At first, we hid in the cellar. I used to bring some clothes down there and took grandpa [probably meaning her husband] to the cellar to hide there. But then I somehow stopped doing that. What is the point in that cellar?

…It was a shock! Then I felt bad. I had high blood pressure. I started to feel fear, and then all was coming one after another along the chain. I rarely got sick in the past. I worked in the vegetable garden and did everything myself. And now I cannot do anything, I have no health. The war took its toll on us, for sure. The blood pressure became high, and now I get sick quite often.

If a shell fragment had flow in here, I would not be here now

Grandpa is great, he is everything to me. He washes my face and wipes it. He washes me and gives me medicines. When I felt very bad, I could not roll over in my bed. [He] turns me over. He is by my side day and night.

If a shell fragment had flow in here, I would not be here now

I couldn’t walk at all. We have children, but they are far away. Now they do not come, there is no possibility to come. They themselves get sick, and they have a small child. They do not have a car now.

If a shell fragment had flow in here, I would not be here now

I am thankful to the grandfather. Grandfather means everything to me!
