“A man was shot down right in front of me”

Student Danylo lived under Russian occupation for six months. The Russian military tried to deport his little eight-year-old brother to the aggressor country. To avoid that, his family had to flee their hometown. At numerous enemy checkpoints, the young man and his family underwent filtration checks. During one of them, a man was shot right in front of Danylo. Because of the commotion, the Russians threatened to shoot the entire convoy of civilians.
