Sofia was leaving Kherson two months after the invasion began. Russian army invaded Kherson in early March 2022. This is the only regional centre that russians managed to occupy during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The girl witnessed the movement of russian military equipment through the city. She tried not to go outside or to do her business quickly to avoid being seen by the russian soldiers.
