Ilia’s father is a priest. The occupiers were checking local churches, looking for ammunition and Ukrainian soldiers. The Russians took Ilia’s father for interrogation. They asked the man absurd questions and threatened him. And while looking for the Ukrainian military, they made a mess in the church where Ilia’s father served. To escape that horror, Ilia’s family had to leave for the government-controlled territory. The journey took five days.
