On February 24, Oksana, a resident of Bucha, left the city with her daughter. They heard the sound of a plane. They saw people running out onto the road in panic.
“We were the only ones going to Kyiv. Thousands were leaving the capital”, Oksana recalls.
We were engaged in volunteering. Every day at the checkpoint we met people who had escaped from Irpin and Bucha.
“Serhii Ustymenko. He was my friend. He lived in Bucha. On March 4, he tried to break through to pick up his parents. The car was shot up. He, his friend and his girlfriend were killed. All three were buried in the yard. It was my first friend who died. My friend’s brother died. The second one lost her father. We found more than a hundred people in a mass grave near the church. And then we found people in the landings .... Officially, there are more than 700 dead. There are many missing persons,” says Oksana.
